DUSHANBE, 28.11.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – On the sidelines of the 15th Economic Cooperation Organization Summit, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Ashgabat.
The discussion focused on the prospects for developing relations between the two countries.
At the outset of the meeting, President Rahmon congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his victory in the presidential election in Uzbekistan and noted that the relationship between the two countries is developing successfully in all directions, and that Tajikistan appreciates the achieved level of cooperation with Uzbekistan.
While discussing the prospects for strengthening and deepening Tajik – Uzbek strategic partnership in the spirit of centuries-old traditions of good neighborly relations, they expressed their satisfaction with the process of steady growth of trade between the two countries.
They called for stepping up of the work of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and the implementation of a promising project for the establishment of the Tajik-Uzbek Investment Company and joint ventures.
Special focus was placed on the implementation of projects in the field of industry, railway transport, and digitization of the economies of countries. The expansion of cooperation between scientific and cultural circles was also noted as important.
The counterparts also exchanged views on specific issues in the international and regional agenda.
Regarding the situation in the neighboring Afghanistan, President Rahmon stressed that Tajikistan is ready to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan by providing offering its logistics capabilities.
